The Bible admonishes us to "study to show yourselves approved, workmen who do not need to be ashamed, but who correctly handle the word of truth". That's great counsel for those wishing to make a long-term impact on the Kingdom of God in our world. It is this desire-- to "equip heads and hearts to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus"-- that drives us in our mission to build up the Body of Christ to reveal His truth and reflect His grace in the marketplace. Won't you consider how the Lord may want to further equip you, so that the "good works prepared in advance" for you, might come to full fruition for the glory of God? Call 706-769-1472 to speak with Matt Stanley, our Director of Student Services, about how you can begin your ministry leadership equipping journey. The deadline to enroll for the fall semester is July 1.

Unite for National Day of Prayer!

One of the most impactful days on our national calendar is the National Day of Prayer, scheduled for Thursday, May 1st. The Athens College of Ministry is collaborating with a number of believers in our area to co-host the NDP Breakfast from 7:00 - 8:30 at the Classic Center featuring Dr. Bobby Joiner, followed by all-day prayer activities across our city.  Make plans to join us for this historic event, as we trust God for spiritual awakening in our nation. Click here for information on tickets to the NDP Breakfast and other activities planned for May 1st.

With uncertainty and strife plaguing the nation, division in the Church, and desperation for peace around the globe, it has never been more incumbent on the people of God to join together in intercsssion before our Heavenly Father. What an encouragement that "the fervent and effective prayers of a righteous man avails much!" (James 5:16b).

Special Thanks for a Special Day: Serve Athens ICN 2014

The Athens College of Ministry would like to thank the many volunteers, community service agency volunteers, worship teams, business sponsors, and churches who joined together in Christ's name to serve our city in Christ's name!  The teams completed 17 different service projects all across Athens! We praise the Lord for all who served!

Join us for Transformed Through Prayer with Dr. Rick Bowling!

On Saturday, May 3, we will take a spiritual "journey" of sorts. An upward journey to establish greater intimacy with the heavenly Father, and inward look at hindrances in our walk with Christ, and an outward focus on the incredible calling we each have to be "ministers of reconciliation" in a fallen world. Dr. Rick Bowling, Pastor of Westview Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, has been used greatly in the area of spiritual formation and counseling to see many freed from the wounds of their past to live thriving, productive and joyful Christian lives. Join us to see how you also might be equipped to be used of the Lord in this way, as well as to experience for yourself a greater degree of joy and freedom in Christ. See our Lifelong Ministry Program page for further details and to register for this one-day course.

ACMin Frequently Asked Questions

Although we're about to complete our second full year of classes, from time to time we still field a number of questions about the college for those who are just beginning to hear what the Lord is doing here at the Athens College of Ministry. See our Frequently Asked Questions page, to address some of the most common queries. And if you still have questions, we'd be delighted to speak with you in person! Just call us at 706-769-1472.

This month we are pleased to feature Tara Lester, a brilliant young student pursuing a degree in Generational Ministry here at the ACMin. Pray for Tara as she pursues God's dream to develop a ministry for young girls and youth.

Describe your calling to ministry:
I’ve had a very difficult life and couldn’t understand why for many years. As I began to know Christ, I understood that it was a part of his plan for me to help other young adults avoid some of the things that I went through.Once I visited the school, I knew what my calling was: loving the Lord and being able to express it daily in the work place.
How did you decide to enroll as a student at the ACMin? I attended an Open House at the college. I spoke with the founder and shared with her my thoughts at the time and what I felt God was nudging me to do. After speaking with her, I knew this was the place that God had called me to attend.
What do you love most about the Athens College of Ministry? From the faculty to the students, there is so much love and compassion for each other. They really love the Lord and you can feel it when you step through the door.  I love that you can be yourself and open up about whatever it is you are going through and not feel condemned.
How do you plan to use what you are learning at the ACMin in your service to the Lord? I plan to become equipped, empowered, and prepared to share the gospel with youth. I will share with them that God loves them no matter what. I want to encourage them to build a relationship with Him. He knows the plan that He has for our lives even when we feel like we are in a maze.
Word of encouragement to prospective students: Follow your dreams, trust God and fear not. He has ordained every step of our lives.  Our life stories are written by him word by word, chapter by chapter and page by page to develop beautifully within us.

Plowing Ground for our new Agricultural Ministry program!

Exciting news is underfoot. We at the ACMin are taking the first steps towards the developmet of an agricultural ministry program! This spring, we'll be involved with a community greenhouse and a gardening project. We'll also offer our first agricultural ministry class in January 2015. We believe there is much power in getting to know the Creator through His creation while we teach a missional knowledge of farming and related interests to bless others both here and abroad. Contact Steve Bridenbaugh today ( to get involved!

Putting Your Dollars to Work in God's Kingdom

It's that time of year again... tax time! It's always a time of reflection-- and sometimes conviction, as old bank registers are perused to see where the money went over the past twelve months. But on the other hand, it can be a time of great thankfulness, knowing that as believers we have sought to be obedient in the practice of giving, whether to our local church, an area ministry, or to someone we know that's in need. You'll find that giving to the ACMin is a fulfilling endeavor as you support students who receive scholarships in order to pursue a ministry speciailization, and the general needs of a burgeoning college which seeks to reflect Christ amid a culture that has all but forgotten Him. So as you pray about where your dollars will go in 2014, we'd be honored to have you invest with us. Here are some creative tips on how you can partner with us at the ACMin.

Connecting with Local Opps and Jobs

Our Community Connections Page is a great place to stay informed about upcoming opporutnities to join with other Christian believers for special events and workshops in the greater Athens area. It's also a wonderful place to post your employment opening, if you are with an area church or Christian ministry. It's wonderful to find ways that we can connect with other believers throughout the area, and be reminded that there is "one Lord, one faith, and one baptism". Let's connect!
