ACMin Newsletter - August 2014

Becoming Like Christ

As He is, so are we in this world.” (1 John 4:17)  It is my deepest heart’s desire to see the Body of Christ living in wholeness of spirit, soul, and body, free from the innermost woundings of the heart, equipped with the Word of God, surrendered to His will, and passionately living out our call to share the Good News with the world!  Here at the Athens College of Ministry, it is our joy to provide you with the knowledge, wisdom, and experiences you need to become a bold, wholehearted disciple of Jesus so that you can confidently be “as He is in this world.”  Through prayer, service, worship, and teaching, we would like to journey together with you towards “oneness” with God the Father, His Son, and each other so that there can be only one result—God’s kingdom coming to earth with all the power and authority already promised to each of us as believers.  We stand ready to help prepare you for your calling as you develop a greater and greater resemblance to the One who gave His all for us.
--Marcia Wilbur, Ph.D., ACMin Chief Education Officer

Held on Labor Day, September 1st, from noon to 7pm, we will gather at the Bishop Farms Outdoor Amphitheatre, just across from UNG-Oconee Campus on Bishop Farms Parkway in Watkinsville, GA. Check out the roster of bands that will be guiding us to the Father's throne:

Whether you attend one of these churches, or simply love worshiping the Lord through music, we encourage you to join us for this glorious time of fellowship and rejoicing. See this link for further details on ADORE!

Praising the Lord for YOU!

Celebrate with us for a successful completion of the 2nd year of ACMin's 3-year launch phase!  We praise the Lord for every person who has been involved in God's work through the college--staff, faculty, faithful volunteers, students, Church Partners, and every single supporter! As a result of your collective obedience to the Lord, we are seeing students transformed as they get prepared for frontline ministry. Captives are being set free through Christ-focused Prayer Ministry, our hearts have turned to the Lord in true worship, and many have been served by your hands and feet! Please receive our heartfelt appreciation for your partnership with the ministry of this college. It is an honor and a blessing to serve Our King with you. I hope that you will take a moment to enjoy the 2013-14 ACMin Annual Report (below) and join our praises for the Lord's fruitful harvest this past year!

Looking ahead, we hope that you will prayerfully consider extending your partnership with ACMin through:
  • A gift to the annual fund to help build student scholarships and staff support
  • Gifts of stock or real estate
  • Legacy gifts that remember ACMin in your estate planning
Gifts to ACMin may be mailed to: PO Box 7953, Athens, GA, 30604.  Click here for online giving, or contact us at 706-769-1472 for assistance. Thank you!
As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God.  For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.  And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the overflowing grace God has given to you.  Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words!    –2 Corinthians 9:13-14

  • Bill Johns, retired Director of the UGA Student Center
  • Peter Meents, C.E.O., Heritage Classical Study Center
Thank you for your continued prayers over our Board of Trustees as they passionately seek the Lord's direction to lead ACMin into the future according to His plan!

Farewell, Michelle!

Over the past year, our staff has been greatly blessed by the work and ministry of Michelle McQuien! With eager anticipation of the Lord's plans, and with a touch of sadness, we say farewell to one of God's special servants. Having accepted the call to work with the Mercy Health Center of Athens, where she will use her Spanish language skills to minister to the Hispanic community and serve the Body of Christ at large, Michelle remains with us at the ACMin through mid-August. If you have served alongside Michelle in coordination with ServeAthens ICN or otherwise, please do send her a note of thanks and appreciation as she tidies up her remaining duties here at the college this month. You can reach her at mevans.asmwa@gmail.com.

Michelle, the ACMin staff, faculty and Board love you dearly, and thank you for your tireless efforts, dedication to the work of the ministry, and sincere devotion to Jesus. Farewell!
