ACMin Newsletter - February 2014

What local pastors are saying about the ACMin

Recently we collected a number of testimonials from area pastors whose congregations have been positively affected by the education and ministry training offered to them here at the Athens College of Ministry.  We at the ACMin feel so blessed to be partners with numerous pastors throughout the area that feel similarly called to "equip heads and hearts to serve as the the hands and feet of Jesus" to Athens and beyond. Click here to view our latest testimonial video by local pastors. And be sure to share the link with your pastor as well!

From the Presenter: “Extraordinary Ordinaries” is not only the name of one of my exhibitions but also expresses my approach to art... My subjects are the ordinary-people, places, objects with the hope that by composition, color, the play of light I might help others see the extraordinary beauty or design in these ordinaries. This is a way that I can reflect my faith in a loving Creator. S.C. Bell

The New Year- New Heart day of prayer on January 11th exceeded all expectations for what the Lord had planned for everyone in attendance. With 70 participants from 23 different local churces present, hear from some of the attendees:

ServeAthens ICN is Fast Approaching!

The ACMin is a community of believers committed to being the "hands and feet of Christ" to the world. This means solid, theological training that goes beyond the typical approach of many institutions of higher learning, and takes this valuable knowledge to the people who need it most-- those in need. Our ServeAthens ICN event, scheduled for Saturday, March. 29th at the Athens YMCA on Oglethorpe Rd. is a perfect opportunity for us to give a little back, allowing God's love to express itself as we commit ourselves to this one-day community service emphasis.

Here's how you can get involved:
  • SERVE on a volunteer team (sign up here!)
  • GIVE as a sponsor for the event (contact Michelle Evans at mevans.asmwa@gmail.com, or 706-951-4119 to be an event sponsor)
  • RUN or WALK to serve. Participate in our 5k run/walk to benefit local service agencies and the ACMin student scholarship fund! Register online at active.com (keyword: ServeAthens).
We're excited to join together to ServeAthens in Christ's name!

Spotlight on Dr. Dan Dunn

This month we are featuring a spotlight on Dr. Dan Dunn, who currently is teaching classes on Evangelism as well as Case Studies in Ministry. Dr. Dunn is also co-founder of the Wesleyan Seminary of Venezuela, where he spends roughly half of every year equipping believers in Christ for the work of the ministry. Here's a snapshot of his heart for training ministry leaders:

What is your passion as it relates to the areas of study that you teach at the ACMin?

"My passion has been to equip Christian leaders to reach the lost. Since I recieved God's call thirty plus years ago, my focus has been to help congregations and leaders look beyond themselves and understand that our primary mission is to help people say yes to Jesus."

How did you first sense God's calling to join the faculty of the ACMin?

"This calling happened through the process of investigation. I first heard about the ACMin through my son, who told me of a school that was developing here in Athens that focused on training ministry leaders. After speaking with Dr. Marcia WIlbur and hearing God's vision for the school, I committed to be a part of it".

A life transformed can transform the world! Sponsor a Student

We have set a goal of raising $75,000 this year to support our student scholarship fund.  Will you help make a way for those who want to get equipped to answer God's call, but for whom the cost of college is out of reach?  Click here to give.  And thank you sincerely for your generous contribution to the ACMin mission and vision.
