Spotlight: Dr. Wilson Lattimore, ACMin Board of Trustee Chair

BIO: Dr. Wilson Lattimore has served as the Senior Pastor of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Athens for the past seventeen years and is in the second year of his term as the ACMin Board of Trustee Chair. See what he has to say about the college:

1) How were you personally called to serve in a leadership role at the Athens College of Ministry? Some seventeen years ago when I entered pastoral ministry, I was needed to find a  college to continue in my training, but this required me to travel some distance to get the education I needed. That the Athens School of Ministry is local to the Athens community is a great advantage to those wishing greater depth of knowledge and practical training in ministry.

2) Why are you passionate about the role of the ACMin in God’s Kingdom? I am passionate about this college because it is training folks for the work of the ministry. Athens has a strong need as a community to benefit from a school of this nature, as it offers something more than we as churches can provide in regard to discipleship training. People can go much deeper in their training for ministry, either professionally or as lay people.
3) What do you feel is unique about the college?  One of the core values is unity within the Body of Christ, and the college is uniquely positioned to enhance unity among us across racial, denominational and generational lines. When we all get to heaven, therewon't be churches separated by denominational differences, but rather the full Body of Christ. Across the curriculum, students focus on the BIble and the central commonalities of the essential theology we share in Christ, versus how we differ. I'm excited that there is a vehicle within our community that would draw us together as one.

Teen-to-Teen For Your Youth Group

On Friday, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th ACMin is hosting a seminar is to develop a core team of youth from among area youth groups interested in intentionally living out their faith and sharing the overflow of their faith with their peers.
