ACMin Newsletter - July 2014

Although an invention from the ancient times in China, fireworks on July 4th have become an indespensable part of our nation's celebration each year. God has His fireworks as well-- those sudden, often unexpected bursts of grace in and on our lives which seem to come just when they're most needed. At the ACMin, the fireworks that leave us in wonder and amazement relate to real life stories of people who enter our prayer ministry and exit transformed; souls who commit themselves to studying in one of our degree programs and brim with excitement about the experiential knowledge they have acquired, and others who invest financially in this work at great sacrifice, because as believers we are convinced that Jesus is the only way. So if your sky grows dark with unanswered prayer, or dreary with the weight of seemingly endless battles, look up! For heavenly fireworks are about to illuminiate your life with the awe-inspiring touch of God!

ADORE 2014: Uniting the City in Worship

When God's people worship, all heaven sings along! Won't you make plans to join us as see hearts and voices across the Body of Christ come together on September 1st (Labor Day) for A.D.O.R.E. (A Day Of Rejoicing for Everyone)? Bring a picnic and stay for the day, as worship teams from around the Athens area bring a full afternoon of musical worship at the beautiful Bishop Farms outdoor amphitheater in Watinsville, GA. The Lord is our audience, and these wonderful leaders in worship will guide us into the presence of God, that we all may bring an offering of praise and thanksgiving before our awesome God. $10 suggested donation per car. Coming July 14th - 18th!

In Christ, we are called to bind up the brokenhearted, but often we feel powerless to help others overcome the difficult parts of life.  July 14-18, ACMin is blessed to host Sandra Selmer live, all the way from New Zeland, to teach a one-week workshop on Healing Trauma.  This training is designed for pastors, Prayer Ministers, counselors, and anyone who would like to learn effective tools to help others get free from the pain and burden of past traumas and the related emotional bondage. Click here for complete information and registration.

Healing Trauma Throughout Our Community

Our Healing Trauma workshop participants will collaborate with the Prayer Ministry team from St. James United Methodist Church for the next Night of Healing Prayer on Thursday, July 17th from 7:00 - 8:30 PM. Teams of trained Prayer Ministers stand ready to help you and others overcome the pain and shame of traumatic personal and relational experiences from your past.. Won't you come and seek lasting freedom and victory in Christ from the bondage of traumatic memories?  We invite and encourage you to come seeking and expecting your breakthrough as we gather to soak in the Lord's presence and to pursue Him through prayer. The Night of Healing Prayer is open to the public. Come join us and bring others who would benefit from healing trauma.  SJUMC is located at the corner of Lumpkin and Westlake in Athens.

GEARING UP FOR FALL: Lifelong Ministry Courses

"... straining toward what is ahead, I press on..." (Phil. 3:13-14) The Word of God admonishes us to always be looking forward, keeping our eyes on Christ and His perfect plan for our lives. Part of this growth involves equipping ourselves spiritually as we join Him in the glorious work of redemption. The beauty of our Lifelong Ministry Program is that not only are the courses designed for every believer in Christ (i.e. even those not called to full-time vocational ministry), but that the scope of offerings gets to the heart of areas that foster our growth in Christ. Until our final breath, we are always growing, and being conformed to the likeness of Christ! Won't you consider joining us for one or more courses this fall? The objective is not to simply give you more information, it's to give you Jesus. Follow this link to see the full range of the exciting courses, workshops, and seminars planned for the fall.
