Faculty Spotlight: Steve Smith

This month we are featuring one of our beloved and inspiring faculty members, Steve Smith. Steve founded Athens Prayer Network, and currently teaches a class on Spiritual Warfare & Victory in Christ at the ACMin.

1. Why are you passionate about teaching your particular area of study through the ACMin?
When I was attending BIOLA University in California, God called me to be a man of prayer. Over the years it has become one of my defining characteristics. Ultimately, my life's calling is to be a wholehearted, risk taking, lover of God and help others be the same. Prayer, intercession and spiritual warfare are an essential part of that. Having an intimate walk with Jesus is crucial in being victorious and advancing His kingdom in the here and now! Teaching at ACMin allows me to "help others become wholehearted risk taking lovers of God!"

2. How did you personally experience God's calling to be a part of our faculty at the college?
Marcia asked and after praying about it, felt God say yes! Part of the reasoning behind my decision is I love ACMin's heart and passion for prayer.

Save the date! A.D.O.R.E Worship Event Sept. 1st!

Part of the vision for the ACMin is to see the Body of Christ united in worship throughout northeast Georgia, joining our hearts in joyful prayer and praise. One tremendous expression of this will be an upcoming event we're calling A.D.O.R.E. (A Day Of Rejoicing... for Everyone!), a full afternoon of musical worship planned for Labor Day, September the 1st, from noon to 6:00PM! Featuring incredible worship bands from the area, the goal of  A.D.O.R.E. is for the Body of Christ to unite, exalting Jesus Christ in a way which resonates in the heavens and changes the earth. Make plans to bring the whole family and join your voices with our own! Call Jeff Renn at 706-769-1472 for further details, or email at

ACMin Agricultural Ministry Team Plans First Garden

With much appreciation to Hartwood Farms for preparing and providing a space for planting, the ACMin Agricultural Ministry team has planted its first garden.  The initial goals of this project are to:
  • Unite churches and believers through a shared, relational effort
  • Grow food to help feed those in need
  • Teach believers how to steward God’s creation
All are welcome to come and learn how to minister to others through agriculture!  We will work in the garden every other Thursday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 PM, including this week, May 1st. Please come as often as you wish. Contact Steve Bridenbaugh at 706-248-0806 each week if you will attend.  We hope that you will partner with us according to God’s leading as we grow something heavenly here on earth!

Bring a Lifelong Ministry Course to Your Church

The Athens College of Ministry has a number of "mobile" LIfelong Ministry Program course offerings that we can bring directly to your church site! The mobile LMP brings the same quality, real-life instruction offered on campus at the ACMin to the people of your church, at your convenience. Whether it's a course on prayer, leadership, worship, or a study of the Hebrew roots of our Christian faith, it would be our pleasure to serve you in this way. Click here for more details.

Connect with New Area Ministry Opportunities!

At the ACMin, we are pleased to serve as a hub for area churches and parachurch ministries as they seek to glorify the Lord Jesus in the world. One of the ways we do this is by featuring ministry opportunities that have come available throughout the area on our Community Connections page. You may know someone who has a special area of giftedness or a particular calling to ministry, that would be a perfect fit for one or more of the listed openings. Or you may be that person! Follow this link to see some of the more recent positions that have yet to be filled. And while you're at it, check out the other incredible events planned to strengthen the Body of Christ.
