ACMin Newsletter - October 2013

Still Time to Make Your Reservation for our SHARE THE VISION! Dinner

Sharing the vision of The Athens College of Ministry is one of the greatest joys of our Board of Trustees, as God continues to grow this "ministry in the shape of a college" to impact the Kingdom of God in the world. As a result we are pleased to host the 2013 Share the Vision! Scholarship Dinner on Thursday, October 10th, from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at the Athens Holiday Inn.  Guests will meet the ACMin Board, faculty, students, and leadership staff, enjoy guest speaker and celebrated vocalist Ralph Freeman, and have an opportunity to support future students through the ACMin Scholarship Fund.  Reservations are required to attend this free dinner; please contact us no later than noon Monday, October 7th at 706-769-1472 if you would like to be our guest.

Open House for Prospective Students

Make plans to join us on Saturday, October 19th from 9-11am for a "drop in" style Open House at the Athens College of Ministry. Staff and students will be on hand to tell more about the exciting opportunities here at the college, including an array of degree programs and Lifelong ministry courses to prepare God's people for effective ministry in the world. You will hear testimonies from current students being greatly impacted by their academic studies, the discipleship approach taken by our committed faculty, and the hands-on service opportunities to apply the things which the Lord is equipping them to do. We hope you will join us, as you pursue God's best for your life and calling. Mark your calendars and bring a friend!  Door prizes, refreshments and more!

WORSHIP ARTS Certificate Program Planned for Spring 2014

Announcing a tremendous new addition to our ministry preparation offerings: the Worship Arts Certificate! Designed as a one-year, 20 credit hour program, the Worship Arts Certificate will equip those interested in being more effective worship leaders with the tools to confidently lead the Body of Christ into the presence of the Living God. With a three-part focus on biblical foundations, musical skill development and servant-leadership training, plus a strong, mentored apprenticeship component, the graduate of the Worship Arts Certificate program will receive essential training to greatly enhance his or her service in effective church or ministry. Contact Jeff Renn, Senior Director of Ministry Outreach for further details about this exciting new program for those called to the ministry of musical worship.

Mark your calendars! ACMin’s annual ServeAthens ICN event, hosted at the Athens YMCA, is planned for Saturday, March 29, 2014. We’re looking forward to a day full of city-wide community service, worship, and fun. For more information on how you can participate, contact our Director of Community Partnerships, Michelle Evans, at or 706-951-4119. We are especially looking for volunteers to help us plan, organize, promote, and recruit for the event. If you are interested in serving as a member of our event steering committee, please contact Michelle at the phone number above.

Building A Community of Prayer

One of the greatest strengths of the Athens School of Ministry has been the ongoing ministry related to the study and practice of prayer. More than the acquisition of head knowledge about prayer movements, styles, and purposes of intercession, the Prayer Ministry has become an incredible tool in the hands of the Lord to bring healing and comfort to hurting people throughout the greater Athens area. Recently a student shared about some challenging trials in his life, and his honesty was met with affirmation from his classmates, and an encouraging time of agreement in prayer. This snapshot-- the fellowship of the believers in impactful prayer-- is one of the many distinctives that make the Athens College of Ministry powerfully unique.

Connecting Our Community

Here at ACMin, we believe that God created each of us with different gifts and that we were created to need each other (1 Cor. 12), which is why we’re big on community. With this in mind, our goal is to connect you with various opportunities to teach, learn, worship, pray, and serve – together. We would like to serve you and your ministry in two ways:
1)      Our Community Connections page: If your church or ministry would like to invite the general public to participate in any Christian growth, prayer, worship or service event, you can submit your information here to be posted on our website.
2)      Community Job Board: If you are a church, service agency, or Christian organization looking to fill a particular paid position, contact Michelle Evans (, 706-951-4119) to have the details posted on our website.
And we hope that you and members of our community will visit these pages often and encourage others to use them as a great hub of community resources!
