ACMin Newsletter - October 2014

Seasons...

Solomon, in the spirit of wisdom which God had bestowed upon him, wrote "To every thing there is a season..." (Ecc. 3:1a) Isn't it true, and proven more decidely so, as we add years to years in our pursuit of Christ? It seems that the primary occupation of those who anticipate His return, good deeds notwithstanding, is the call to wait on the Lord. Beyond the mundane sort of waiting-- at stoplights, in grocery lines, and at the doctor's office-- God accepts with great pleasure our willingness to wait upon Him, for our waiting implies trust, and our deep trust conveys our understanding of His deeper sufficiency.

Autumn has that sort of quality about it, a sense of waiting. It will of course be many days before new life appears through hardened winter soil, but we certainly look forward to this, as we do His ability to bring life out of death within each one of us. Are you waiting for God to answer? Are you waiting for a particular mountain to move? Are you holding on, until the clouds dissipate and joy returns? Beloved, this is for you a period of rest, and an opportunity to say, "Lord, though the answer doesn't come in my time, Your presence is answer enough and Your grace sustains me. Surely spring will come, and with it unimaginable joys, but meanwhile in the waiting, my lips will praise You."

New Student Spotlight! Meet Carolyn Kaes

With the fall semester successfully underway, we want to introduce a wonderful new addition to the ACMin student body. It's because of students like Carolyn that we exist as a college, and we're so thankful to share in her spiritual and academic development as she heeds God's call on her life.

From Carolyn...
I have grown up in the Athens area and graduated from high school in 2012. I was homeschooled and attended a visual and performing arts school for homeschoolers.  After spending 2 years working several jobs and waiting on God’s leading, I was called to ACMin. I went through a period of time where all the plans I had made for my life were falling through and God brought me to a place where I was totally reliant on His direction. I stumbled upon ACMin through Living Hope Church and immediately knew it was where I was supposed to be. I'm enrolled in the Worship Arts Program.  I love being a part of musical worship and seeing people enter into the presence of God through song. I also really enjoy serving in children’s and youth ministry. I don’t know exactly how God will use me in these areas in the future, but I’m excited to see what He has planned!

What I love most about ACMin is the atmosphere of prayer and the “stop, drop, and pray” motto. I also love the community that exists between the students and faculty within the school. I feel like I have such a strong support system and a team of people cheering me on as I pursue God’s calling. All my classes are rooted in the Word of God and are preparing me to be able to share my faith with a deeper understanding of the Gospel. There is also an emphasis on my personal spiritual growth and my walk with the Lord. These are things I will take with me forever and will be applicable in any ministry setting.  I would encourage anyone who desires to be involved in ministry to prayerfully consider ACMin! The classes offered provide solid Biblical teaching that will assist you and equip you whether you are already in ministry, would like to be, or just want to further your personal walk with the Lord.

Connecting the Community

More and more, we hear reports of people recognizing the role which God has ordained the ACMin to play in His Kingdom, that of bringing the Body of Christ together in the way that He has ordained. We can never underestimate the power of unity, as we come together around shared beliefs and values to represent Jesus Christ in the world. For this reason, the ACMin is pleased to accept her calling as a hub of sorts on the "wheel" that is His Body in Athens. If you haven't visited our Community Connections page recently, please note the great opportunities available for service in His Name. Contact us to post your Christian event or job opening!
